The Santa Cruz Mountains Stewardship Network works in many areas. Below are links to some of the Network’s projects, articles written by the Network’s staff and members, and articles written about the Network

The members of the SCMSN feel that those who love and value this important region share a rare opportunity and responsibility to work together to protect this unique ecological and cultural heritage.

Projects

The Vegetation and Landscape Database Project

The project combines high quality lidar, high resolution optical imagery, and field work to create fine-scale vegetation maps, wildfire risk maps, digital elevation maps and many other maps and layers.

The SCMSN’s project covers Santa Cruz and Santa Clara Counties but the Network has also done work to augment an already-existing project in San Mateo County. The SCMSN’s project is one of several high-quality mapping projects in the Bay Area. The data for all of these projects are available at: www.pacificvegmap.org.

Digital Atlas Project

See the Digital Atlas page.

Climate Adaptation Project

The Santa Cruz Mountains Stewardship Network worked with Ecoadapt and Pepperwood Preserve to create a Climate Adaptation Project that included conducting vulnerability assessments and developing adaptation strategies for focal species in the Santa Cruz Mountains to inform land stewardship in the region.
