Science & Stewardship Symposium

The Santa Cruz Mountains Stewardship Network is offering a Science & Stewardship Symposium on January 30th, 2026.

The Symposium will focus on the intersection of research and land stewardship in the Santa Cruz Mountains and feature presentations and posters from researchers and land stewardship practitioners. The ultimate purpose of the symposium is to increase the quality of land stewardship in the region.

The SCMSN is requesting proposals for presentations regarding either research or practice related to the following topics:

Biodiversity interactions at ecosystem scale

Climate change and resiliency management

Forest Management

Grassland ecology and connectivity

Human/wildlife interaction

Fire and Land stewardship in the Santa Cruz Mountains

Species Reintroduction

Managing working lands

Collaboration between organizations, across property lines, jurisdictions, and other boundaries

Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Land Management decision making

Water quality

Proposals on topics that are not listed but are relevant to land stewardship in the Santa Cruz Mountains are welcome.

Please submit proposals for presentations HERE by August 29th, 2025. Notifications for acceptance will be issued by October 3rd. Proposals for posters are due by November 21, 2025.
